Lifewide Learning an Ecological Perspective
Norman Jackson
The core concepts underlying lifewide learning are outlined together with an example of an Award that seeks to encourage, support and recognise lifewide learning and personal development. The idea of personal learning ecologies - the particular set of contexts, situations, tools and resources, that we create for ourselves in order to accomplish a particular self-directed learning project, will be introduced in preparation for a workshop that will consider how learners might gain recognition for this important capability. The ability to create personal learning ecologies is an important aspect of knowing how to learn particularly when contexts and challenges are new.
